NIOSH 2013: Current strategies for engineering controls in nanomaterial production processes

NIOSH_200The focus of this document, published by the US National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), is to identify and describe strategies for the engineering control of worker exposure during the production or downstream use of engineered nanomaterials.

Following an introduction to occupational safety and health management systems, the document provides an overview of general exposure control strategies following the Hierarchy of Controls, makes recommendations for engineering controls for specific nanotechnology processes, and outlines approaches for evaluation of controls, sources of emissions, and exposure to nanomaterials.
