SAFENANO: Mission, Aims and Objective
Mission:
The Safenano initiative will provide independent, impartial advice concerning the potential risks to the environment and human health from nanoparticles.
Aims:

To provide strategic advice on safety, health and environmental issues (SHE). This includes development and implementation of SHE policies and plans, initiatives to encourage SHE activities, advising in the development of reporting protocols and liaison with appointed HS&S contacts

To coordinate UK industry around the issues arising from toxicology, health and safety of Nanomaterials

To lower the risks of Small and Medium sized Enterprise entry into the commercialisation of nanoparticulates

To assist the wider UK industry in the risk assessment of existing products containing nanoparticulates

To provide government agencies with expert advice and input to help develop and implement their response to the potential risks associated with nanoparticles
Objective:
To provide an information service focussed on interpreting and transferring the emerging scientific evidence about the potential risks to health and the environment arising from the development and use of nanotechnology
