Defra
The aim of Defra in relation to nanomaterials is to ensure that the benefits of nanotechnology can be realised while protecting human health and ecosystems from potential risks.
FSA
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) is the UK body responsible for the assessment of novel foods and it will not assess the safety of using nanotechnology in the food chain unless it is asked to do so. If a company wants authorisation to market food produced using nanotechnology, then the Agency is obliged to assess the food safety implications.
EFSA
Since 2006 EFSA has been following developments in nanotechnology within its remit, including reviewing the current state of knowledge and latest developments in nanotechnology with regard to food and feed.
ANSES
The French national agency for Food safety, environment and labour.
BfR
BfR’s focus on the risks of nanotechnological applications is relevant particularly in the context of consumer health protection.
FERA
FERA undertakes nanotechnology research in support of food and environment policy within the UK.
HSE
HSE will support a programme of research work to understand the risks presented by nanotechnologies so that it can advise on the adequacy of existing occupational regulatory frameworks and the regulation of the emerging risks.
FSAI
The Food Safety Association of Ireland has undertaken research into the establish an assessment of possible risks in relation to nanotechnology in food.
EMEA
The European Medicines Agency follows the latest developments in nanotechnology that are relevant to the development of medicines.
Nano Quebec
NanoQuebec, is a not-for-profit corporation organization playing a central role in the structuring and planning of efforts in nanotechnology in Quebec.
BAuA
The Nanotechnology programme of the German Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA).

QNANO
A pan-European infrastructure for quality in nanomaterials safety testing.
ObservatoryNANO
A European observatory to provide scientific, technical and economic analysis of nanotechnologies, and consider their ethical, societal, EHS and regulatory impacts.
KIR nano
KIR nano aims to observe and monitor the potential risks of nanotechnology, gathering relevant scientific literature, and advising and informing governmental bodies and professionals.
JRC nanohub
NANOhub is a database and information platform developed to address and host nano-specific information and methodology. It is based on IUCLID, which provides a common accepted basis for regulatory use of data, such as in the OECD context. It complements the repository of nanomaterials for test method development and assessment.
Created in the framework of the action "Nanotechnology" in the JRC, it is supplied free-of-charge by JRC, with dedicated support.
