Presentations from the joint US-EU nanoEHS workshop now available
Created by assoceditor on 11/08/2011 10:42:38

Presentations are now available online from the joint US-EU nanoEHS dialogue workshop held in March.

On the 10th – 11th March 2011, the US-EU nanoEHS dialogue held a workshop in Washington DC with the aim to:
  • engage in an active discussion about environmental, health, and safety questions for nano-enabled products;
  • encourage joint programs of work that would leverage resources;
  • establish communities of practice, including identification of key points of contact /interest groups/themes between key US and EU researchers and key US and EU funding sources.
The workshop was attended by over 200 representatives from a range of backgrounds, including US and EU governmental bodies, regulatory agencies, research organisations, academia and industry, and followed the below agenda:

PART 1: Understanding Perspectives and Programs
PART 2: Data Needs for Regulatory Decision Making
   Session 1: Human Health Data Needs
   Session 2: Environmental Data Needs
PART 3: Tackling the Challenges of Producing Reliable and Reproducible Data for Nanomaterials Assessment and Risk Management
   Session 1: When do Unique Properties – with Risk Assessment Implications – Arise for Specific Nanomaterials?
   Session 2: How do Surface Modifications and Chemical Transformations Affect Toxicity?
   Session 3: What Metrics Are Most Scientifically Accurate When Relating Dose to Response in Toxicity Assessments? How Are Dose-Response Data Best
   Extended to Determining Occupational Exposure Limits and Environmental Concern Concentrations?
   Session 4: How Relevant Are Model Nanoparticles to Understanding Exposure in the Workplace? How Relevant Are they to Recommending Industrial
   Hygiene Practices?
   Session 5: What are the Critical Parameters and Data Needs Relevant to Understanding the Behaviour of Nanoparticles in Consumer and General
   Population Exposures?

Presentations from the workshop are now available online – click here for access.
