Should we be taking a closer look at the potential dangers of nanotechnology?
Created by snadmin on 06/06/2011 16:04:32

The UK's Guardian Newspaper considers whether we should be taking a closer look at the potential dangers of nanotechnologies.

In an article published in the Guardian on the 25th May, the UK's Guardian Newspaper considers whether we should be taking a closer look at the potential dangers of nanotechnologies.

The article states that amongst the potential and excitement that nanoscale technology offers for the future, the potential risk must also be considered. It asks how much we really know about the impacts on society and on health of the tiny nanoscale particles that are being churned for commercial and scientific purposes, and whether nanoparticles released as we use those products could cause harmful effects to the environment.

Providing a brief introduction to nanotechnologies, and containing input from Gabriel Aeppli (Professor of physics at the London Centre for Nanotechnology), David Sainsbury (UK science minister) and Ann Dowling (a mechanical engineer at Cambridge University) the article provides an interesting and stimulating read for both nanotechnologists and the general public.
